Summer EBT is a new program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families will get $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries during the summer. Children who get Summer EBT can still participate in other summer meal programs. Receiving Summer EBT will not affect children's or families’ immigration status.
In North Dakota, Summer EBT will be loaded onto an EBT card and mailed to each eligible child at the address registered with the child's school. If eligible, you can use Summer EBT benefits to buy food like fruits, vegetables, meat, whole grains, and dairy at grocery stores, farmers' markets, and other places that accept SNAP EBT benefits. Summer EBT is a convenient way for you to help your children thrive.
Is my child eligible for Summer EBT?
Your child is eligible for Summer EBT if:
Your household already participates in SNAP, FDPIR, TANF, OR
Your child attends a school that offers the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program, and your household income meets the requirements for federal free or reduced-price school meals.
How do I enroll my child in Summer EBT?
Many families will receive Summer EBT automatically if they are receiving other benefits, but some may need to apply for the program.
Many automatically enrolled families received an email with a unique link to their child(ren)’s information in the North Dakota Summer EBT portal, where they can change their address and check on their benefit status. Families without emails registered at their child’s school did not get a link. They can contact ndsebt@nd.gov to see if they are eligible.
Children who are automatically enrolled will be mailed a “Summer EBT” card to the address registered with their school. If the address on file with your child’s school is incorrect, please send your updated information to ndsebt@nd.gov.
If you are not automatically enrolled and believe your children are eligible, you can apply for Summer EBT by filling out a simple form.
