wall with red ribbon art

Red Ribbon week is celebrated annually October 23-31. Red Ribbon week is acknowledged throughout the nation at this time to remember and honor DEA Special agent Kiki Camarena and his efforts to bring awareness and opposition to drug use.

Students in grades K-6 at Killdeer Public School have spent guidance time learning about making healthy choices, as well as learning the effects of drugs and alcohol. K-3 students made posters encouraging making healthy choices and students in grades 4-6 made posters celebrating a drug free life by making healthy decisions. Every student received a Red Ribbon bracelet with this year’s theme printed on them, which is “Drug free looks like me”. These posters are hanging throughout the halls to remind others about the meaning of Red Ribbon week. Remember to talk to your kids about what healthy choices they are making and how these decisions can impact their lives.
