Mrs. Sampsel’s 2nd graders spent time researching different animals and their habitats. They then had to create a 3D habitat to show what they learned. They also completed informational writing about their animals to share with the class. Their dioramas and writing were displayed for the elementary to see! They got many compliments about their hard work from other students. The second graders really enjoyed this project!

Congratulations to Bryndal Geiger for advancing from the local and regional levels of the ND Junior High Mathcounts Competition. She participated in the Junior High State Mathcounts in Bismarck on March 27, 2023. Bryndal competed against the best 160 JH math students in the state. Great Job Bryndal!
Mrs. Sampsel’s 2nd grade class had a guest speaker on Thursday! Elsabe Hausauer came to speak about life in South Africa: where she grew up. She brought the students South African flags and candy. She showed pictures of Table Mountain which is one of the oldest mountains in the world. She informed the students about wildlife, school, culture and tourist attractions. She even taught the students some phrases in her Native language: African. Lastly, she left the students with the message of “Ubuntu” which means to stand together in unity and to believe that people are good. The students absolutely loved it and asked so many good questions. Thank you, Elsabe for this experience to share your culture with our students!
Hakuna Matata was the winning song from our March Music Madness. Mr. Bilbrey and Mr. Cook shared the 1st place staff award for their winning song picks. Congratulations!!

Two Killdeer students were selected by their workshop peers to give closing speeches at the Close Up banquet. Congratulations Erin McFadden and Adrianna Kent on a job well done! Very proud of our group this week- awesome representatives of our school and community!

The 5th Grade Wax Museum was an incredible success. The students did an exceptional job with their speeches, wardrobes, and poster displays. Congratulations on such a great class project.
Close Up students spent Wednesday at the Capitol visiting with our Congressmen. They are an amazing group of students that posed challenging questions to Representative Armstrong and Senators Cramer and Hoeven. Really proud of our kids!!!
Last night Close Up students participated in a mock congress. Several of our amazing students were selected as committee chairs and speakers at the full Congress. They did an amazing job!
Mrs. Walker's 2nd grade class conducted word surgery today. They had fun using their scalpels (scissors) and trimming away extra letters. Then bandaged it back up with an apostrophe to make a contraction.
We are down to our FINAL two songs for March Music Madness! The winning song and bracket will be announced this Friday!
Close Up is learning at the memorials today in Washington. There are 15 students on this learning trip making lots of memories.
