Cowboys Archery News
Hello Cowboy Archery fans, I want to share a few more highlights with you from our archery season. We had 33 of our archers attend the State tournament in Minot this year. A total of 887 archers competed in Bullseye, and 734 competed in 3-D, this made for some heavy competition. The top ten in each division earn a chance to attend Nationals. We had 2 archers get pretty close in their divisions, Austyn Teigen placed 12th in Bullseye, and Brier Arndt placed 21st in 3D.
I am very proud of all our archers, as the State Tournament brings out the best archers in the state! It was also record year for scholarships awarded. Each year the North Dakota Youth Archery Advisory Committee (NDYAAC) awards the top archers with scholarships and prizes. This year they awarded $50,000 in total! Including an all-expenses paid Antelope hunt in Wyoming! To win the hunt, the top 5 archers in 3D have a one arrow shoot off and let me tell you the nerves were high with hundreds of fans and archers watching! This year, NDYAAC also gave out random $500 scholarships to archers that competed at state. And I’m happy to report 3 of our cowboys received scholarships! Micah Dutchek, Shakhohe Spotted Bear, and Ben Roundy
NDYACC also recognizes archers who hit point thresholds at tournaments throughout the season, by awarding pins. And they are as follows: Bullseye 240- Sarah, Austyn, Kasen, Kia, Cinch, Oliver. 250- Samantha, Autumn, Sarah, Kia, Chessah, Kasen, Charli, Layna. 260- Emelie, Autumn, Brianna, 270- Emelie, Austyn.
3D 240- Chessah, Layna, Sarah, Breanna. 250- Emelie, Samantha, Austyn, Autumn, Kasen, Kia, Sarah, Ben. 260&270- Autumn.
We also want to recognize 2 of our Seniors Ben Roundy and Autumn Arndt, they will be hanging up their NASP bow for the last time! They have participated in the program since 4th grade. Even with all their other activities they made time for archery. They always brought a smile to practice and were willing to help out whenever needed.
As always thank you for your support of the Archery program! See ya next year! Adrienne Arndt
